Try popping at the corner of the tail. It makes more rotation. Jump high like a big ollie but the difference is in the pop.

You can never master a trick. You can be good and get them really consistent but it is impossible to master a trick and never fail it. All shuv based tricks are a lot easier to learn than 360 shuv based tricks. For begginer shuv based tricks you want to be able to believe you will land on the board. For instance you must commit and go for the board otherwise you will never progress. You must remember to learn from your mistakes for example if you do a shuv hippy jump 180 and land with your toes hanging off, think how do i fix this. I know jump back a bit more and land bolts! For 360 shuv tricks you must stay in the air as long as possible to let the board rotate the whole way around. For Tre flips and nollie 360 shuvs and other 360 shuv consisted tricks you need to commit and go for your board. Its all about commiting with tricks! Here is a video telling how you can become more confortable doing shuv tricks and other tricks: I hope this helped.
