whenever i try, my foot doesnt leave the board, or the board shoots out.

You need to lift your front foot higher to bring it out but it also helps moving it further up the board when you ollie :)

Yeah, you're gonna want to kick out a lot harder with your front foot. The board shouldn't really leave your back foot, so when your front foot disconnects you still have control.
