Frontside / Backside
There has been a lot of discussion about frontside and backside, and I have to admit that it can be a little confusing.
This guide will make it clear once and for all.
Grinds & slides
If you're approaching the rail with your back facing it, you're doing the grind or slide backside. If the obstacle is in front of you, you're doing the grind or slide frontside.
It doesn't matter if you're riding nollie, fakie or switch!

Air & flip tricks
Let's use the 180 ollie for example.
If you can see the whole time what's in front of you, you're doing it frontside. If you can see what's happening behind you, you're doing it backside.
Again, foot positions (fakie, nollie, switch) have no influence in this!
Frontside

Backside

For 360 & 540 you just apply this rule to the first 180 degrees. A 360 backside ollie is obviously going in the same direction as a 180 backside ollie.
