Introduction to freestyle
So you want to become the new Rodney Mullen? The basics are really easy and the combinations are endless.

- Tip 1: Understand the meaning of 'freestyle'. This means you can do anything you want, if it feels good to you! This means dancing on your board is also freestyle in a way (but seriously guys, don't...).

- Tip 2: Combine tricks. It's really impressive what you can do with some really easy basic tricks. I suggest you practise the shove-it, walk-the-dog, pivots, end overs and multiple 360's first. Then just be creative and combine these tricks into long combos.
Later you can work your way up and replace the shove-it's by bigspins. Combining tricks with manuals is a lot of fun as well. It's a little harder, but it sure feels good when you've mastered it.

- Tip 3: A simple trick like end overs can be the backbone of your freestyle combo, but you might want to throw in some sweet looking freestyle tricks, such as casper flips and primo/reemo tricks.
- Tip 4: Don't be afraid to use your hands, or put a foot on the ground while doing a trick. Try to invent new ways to use your board. To give some examples: casper, railstand, handstand, truckstand, pogo air... What you do and how you do it really doesn't matter, as long as it's fun. That's my opinion on freestyling (and skateboarding in general).
Now jump on your board (or jump off it, remember tip 4?) and have fun freestyling!
