Make skate wax
You could buy skateboard wax in a skateshop for $5, but why not make them yourself? It's free, easy, and you can make it in any color or shape you want!
All you need is:
- Some old candle leftovers.
- Olive oil or something similar.
- An empty bean can or just a metal bowl
Start by cutting the candle into really small pieces. I used a colored candle, but you can always add crayons (in tiny pieces) for the color.

Pour some oil over the whole. Don't overdo it or you'll end up with a bowl of goo instead of wax. If you use too little, your wax will be less slippery.

Put the bowl in the oven until everything is completely melted. You could open the oven sometimes to stir (otherwise the oil might sink to the bottom).
A microwave might work, though I haven't tried it yet. Make sure not to microwave metal!
When it's all melted, it will smell horrible and look something like this:

Put it outside or on the windowsill to let it cool a little.

Put your wax a couple of hours in the refrigerator.

After some hours, poke the wax to feel if it's hard enough already. If so, you can take it out.
If you can't get the wax out of the can, you can cut it open, or heat the edges of the can to melt the sides a little.
Your skateboard wax should look something like this, but if it doesn't, don't worry... it might take a few tries to make really good wax.

Once you got this basic wax down, you can experiment with different shapes by pouring the molten wax into a mold.
