Ollies are the foundation
You just landed your first ollie, time to move on to the next trick... right?

Wrong. There really isn't any point in trying any other trick that involves ollies until you completely master them.
Just a month ago, I couldn't do any of the tricks I was trying. Why? Because my ollie wasn't high enough. Dissapointed, I took a new approach. I decided to learn better ollies and only ollies.
I started out spending a few days practicing my stationary ollies until I got them about a deck and 1/2 high.
Then, I moved onto moving ollies until they were about a deck high at moderate speeds. At this point I was already feeling pretty good and in control.
After this, I moved onto ollieing off stuff. This only took me a day, and it was worth it. Now I can ollie the 3-set I was so afraid to do before and I'm looking to try a 5 set.
Last, but definately not least, I learned to ollie onto and over obstacles. Gaps work well for this too. I have only one tip for this: Keep both feet on the board no matter what. I have a friend who always lands them with one foot off and can't break the habit.

Besides, you progress much faster if you use proper technique in the first place.
Finally, I was happy with my ollies. I could ollie 2 decks high standing, 1 moving, I could ollie off 2 1/2 foot ledges, gap 3 foot gaps, ollie onto boxes and had so much better balance and control of the board from all of it.
In the last week, just because I had my ollies down, it has been much easier to learn tricks. I have learned these in the last week. Remember that I could do no tricks before!
- Kickflips
- Fakie shove-its
- Pop shove-its
- Casper flips
- 180's
- 50-50's
- Ollie onto nose stalls
- Boardslides
- Noseslides
Trust me people, bad ollies make bad tricks!
