Stances / foot position
In this guide, I'll explain basic skateboard terminology such as regular, goofie, fakie, nollie and switch.
Stances
There are two ways to stand on your board:
- Regular stance: left foot in front, right foot on the tail of the board.
- Goofy stance: right foot in front, left foot on the tail of the board.
Before you start skating, you should find out what your stance will be. Try them both and see what feels the most comfortable.
The way you stand on your board for most of the times is your stance.
Foot position
But ofcourse you can also do tricks with your feet in another position. This does not chance your stance, only your (temporary) foot position.
Check out the diagram below to see all the possible foot positions for both stands.
