Lords Of Dogtown review

For those of you who haven't seen this movie, you should go to your nearest Block Buster, or Family Video or whatever and go rent or buy Lords of Dogtown.
This movie is based on the true story of the Z-Boys from Santa Monica, California. The movie follows the story of three main Z-Boys: Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, and Jay Adams. Skip Engblom, the owner of Zephyr Skate Shop orders new polyurethane wheels for the boys skateboards. The boys try out the new wheels and a playground with many banks and Skip sees how well the wheels work, he decides to make a skate team.
The skate team included Tony and Jay, and shortly after, Stacy. The team does really well and wins many skate competitions scattered around California. The three boys, Tony, Jay, and Stacy are the three best of the team and get noticed by bigger and wealthier people.
Tony gets an offer from Topper Banks, a company owner to begin skating for him so that he can become rich and famous, and convinces Tony that Skip is holding him back from all that. Tony, very convinced, leaves the Zephyr skate team and joins Topper. Jay leaves as well so that he can get money to pay the rent for his mom. He refuses to do a commercial add for Slinky but refuses (he doesn't like to sell out). Stacy is the last to leave the team. All three soon became rich and famous. appearing in magazines and t.v. shows.
Things start to heat up between the three boys as they all attend skate competitions. During a major skate competition, that all three are skating at, Tony gets in a fight with another skater and then gets severely hurt. Jay leaves a company he endorsed to make skateboards because they used cheap ass material, but Stacy has been doing well and wins the competition.
Back home in California in Venice, their friend Sid develops brain cancer. All three boys, despite their rivalry, visit Sid. Sid emptied his pool so that they could skate it. This becomes a reminder that the reason they started skating was for the passion, not for money.
Later, Sid dies of brain cancer, Stacy becomes an award winning film maker, who actually writes the story of Lords of Dogtown and he makes a popular skating company which included 14 year old Tony Hawk on the team, Tony becomes a very successful skater, and Jay also became a successful skater.
All in All, this movie is a must see that tells the true story of the Z-boys. the actors did a good job recreating the z-boys. Emil Hirsch, who plays Jay, did amazing in adding the feelings and emotions of Jay when he was that age.Victor Rasuk really captured the expressions and competitive side of Tony. and John Robinson lived up to Stacy. Keep in mind that all these young actors were side by side behind the scenes with the real Tony, Jay, and Stacy.
Stacy Peralta wrote the screenplay and story for this movie, so that you know that this movie actually came from a Z-boy. and that this isn't just another Based on-movie, or Inspired From-movie, this is the story from the Z-boys.
