Krux III Trucks review

return to overview

Krux III

General: Krux III are high/mid trucks, so if you are going from low trucks to these there will be a bit of a difference. The extra height is actually quite nice, and when you pop the extra time taken for the tail to hit the ground gives you more time to slide your front foot, and lets you get higher, slower flips, I think. The trucks are a bit heavy compared to some other brands like Tensor who focus on reducing weight, but not to an extent that you’d notice it once you’d set the trucks up on your board, I find it makes no difference at all, but adds strength to the trucks that lighter trucks detract from for a few grams. If you're looking for a low truck, have a look into Krux Downlows, a lower version of Krux III, with an inverted kingpin.

Durability: The hangar is definitely made of some solid metal. While the white paint wore off fast, this is pretty much where the wear stopped, and they’ve lasted through a lot of grinds without wearing fully through. Its started to flatten out a little bit though, and are probably after a long time, maybe another year, going to wear down to the axle. Kingpins have shown to be really solid, when I had a set of Royal Trucks, the kingpins were much lower quality and broke on flatland tricks. Baseplate is also holding up nicely, but wearing down a bit as I’ve had these trucks for about a year

Turning: I like loose trucks, and these trucks definitely deliver on this. The bushings are pretty soft, and combined with loosening the trucks kingpin bolt to maximum looseness, and removing one of those metal washers, the turning is insanely good and responsive. If you like really tight trucks, these aren’t for you, as you can tighten them up as much as you can, but the bushings will still be soft and you’ll still get a bit of looseness

Grinding: They grind well, not much more to say about this. I reckon metal is metal though, and most quality branded trucks, like Krux, Indy, Thunder, Venture, etc. will grind about the same, because they are made of the same metal. It really more depends on what you’re grinding.

Overall: Krux III trucks are a solid set of trucks with great turning and functionality, which is all you really want from a truck, no fancy stuff like magnesium, just a set of trucks that do exactly what they are supposed to.

9/10
