Bs darkslide skateboard trick tip

The following trick tip will show you how to Bs darkslide. Reading this trick tip is just the first step to learn the Bs darkslide, but know that you'll need lots of practise to land it.

Darkslides were invented by Rodney Mullen in 1992. They're really different then most other grinds. Basicly a darkslide is just a boardslide but with your board flipped over, so you grind on your griptape. Everyone says that Darkslides destroy your griptape, that's true for a little bit. Because of the concave in your board only the sides of your grip will be destroyed. That doesn't really matter, you can still skate on it.

So, for a darkslide you must be able to do solid kickflips and boardslides. But if these are the only 2 tricks you can do, don't try it.

Ride with a good speed to a box or rail with your feet in kickflip stance, if you are beginning to pratice the darkslide, please use a box, it's way more easy.



If you come to the point that you want to slide, do a little kickflip with an 90 degree angle, remember that you don't do a kickflip, but just a half flip, maybe you want to try this on flatground first.







Then when you flip the board, catch it on the nose and tail, it's not so hard.





Now your standing in a darkslide, just slide like an ordinary boardslide, but make sure that you lean a bit to the side. Or else you can't land it, so lean a bit more on your backfoot.
Also it's helpfull to put your backhand forward and your fronthand backwards, so your shoulders will turn a bit.





Now if you want to land it (this is really hard) it's best to land it to fakie, it's a bit easier.
Also it's good to just stand on the rail and try to land it before you actually slide.

If you want to land a Darkslide you really got to look at it as a Shove-it. Move your front foot up, and shove the board with your left foot, after a while you'll get the hang of this and do it better and better. If you do a Shove-it in the landing, the chances are that the board will flip the half flip automaticly, if not, try to kick your front heel to the truck, most of the time this will help. So onces you Shove-it out move your body to fakie, that's why you should turn your backhand forward and your fronthand backward.












It's really really difficult to understand all this, use the movie and the sequence and try darkslides for a couple of days.
