Kickflip trick tip
The kickflip was originally called "Magic flip" when freestyle legend Rodney Mullen invented it in the 1980's.
It became one of the most popular skateboarding tricks ever. Landing your first kickflip is an important milestone, enjoy it!

- 1
Start in the ollie position, with your front foot slightly more towards the heel side of the board, at a 30 degree angle.

- 2
Crouch down a little to prepare for the pop. Keep your shouldes in line with the board.

- 3
Pop the board like you would for an ollie.

- 4
Jump and flick your front foot towards the heelside edge of the nose. This should make the board flip in a full 360 degree rotation.
Suck up your legs to give the board room to rotate.

- 5
Try to catch the board in midair by lowering your feet.

- 6
Bend your knees upon landing to absorb the impact.

Tips

Try to land with your feet above the bolts of your trucks.

Look at your board, it will help you keep in line with the board.

Don't kick the board down too much.

Don't give up! It can take hundreds of tries. When you feel you can flip it but still can't land, just throw your feet on that board and don't overthink it. Pump yourself up and go for it!
